The "inventor" of french fries is unknown, but the Belgian historian Jo Gerard describes potatoes being fried by the Spanish as far back as 1680.

Thomas Jefferson served french fries in the early 1800s. (He had a french chef.)

I think French fries are British (need to corroborate the assumption), Croissant is not French but Austrian, Spaguetti is not Italian but Chinese.

Nope. Click on the links. They're actual from Central/South America and the Spanish brought them to Europe. Europeans (including England) hated them and the only reason the Irish got them was to survive famine. The history of the spud is a cool little story.

You are mistaken. Don“t confuse Potato with French Fries. Yes Potato, comes from South America, in particular from Peru. But French Fries which are a prepared food is another thing.

Now, the invention of French Fries I believe is a British invention (regardless if they

Belgians claim to have invented "French" fries. They were prepared as early as the 1700s and were simply referred to as fried potatoes. Thomas Jefferson first sampled them in Paris and brought the recipe home with him. In 1802 a dish listed as "potatoes served in the French manner" appeared on a White House menu.
