Who inspired you to learn to play the guiter? Was it someone famous, a band, a friend, or a relative?

Most people can point out a specific performer, friend, or a relative that first led them to learn to play an instrument. The most famous guiter players can probably name who first got them interested in playing. So who is your inspiration? Is it a famous guiter player? A certain band or group? Was it a specific type of music that first caught your attention? Maybe someone you know personally was the first to get you interested. Please share who your inspiration is and how they inspired you to learn to play guiter.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

At first I just sow a guitar somewhere in my house and I started discovering it and what it could do. At hat time I was listening to progressive 70's music, classical music and jazz. I was very interested in playing guitar after I listened to some Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. Later, after more into heavy metal I discovered a great guitarist: Yngwie Malmsteen.
I was inspired to play guitar by Yngwie J. Malmsteen. He is a Swedish guitar virtuoso, composer, multi-instrumentalist and bandleader.

He plays neo-classical metal compositions, and uses high speed picking with harmonic minor scales, sweep picked arpeggios, diminished scales and has a great clean sound.
I started studying his techniques and a little later I discovered some other great guitarists like Jason Becker , Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman etc. Tough there are faster guitarists out there than Malmsteen is , in my opinion he is (from what I know) a very fast guitarist with a unique stile and also a genius composer.
