Who handles breakups better?

How one handles a breakup depends on the individual. I think it depends on your psychology, your experience, how you look at life... what kind of social supports you have, etc.
One could say men handle breakups better because they typically ignore their feelings and move on. It's one of the better uses of our goal-focused manliness. One could say men don't handle breakups better because they can't identify their feelings and don't have the training to handle them... so they deny them and push them down (where they'll bob back to the surface later on).
One could say women handle breakups better because they have better social supports and can identify/handle their feelings. One could say women don't handle breakups better because they can let their feelings overwhelm them and then start obsessing.
So... it's a draw!

M$I believe it also has to do with *why* the breakup occurred. I mean was someone cheating, or are we talking about the fact that the couple just grew apart? How long were they together?
Overall tho, I'd say probably the person who is doing the breaking up (the "Dumper" let's call them) will always be WAY better off than the Dumpee. The Dumper has pretty much already gotten over the fact that the relationship is over, while the Dumpee may have NO idea what's going on (and that can be devistating).
Hope that's somewhat on target!
