Who feels Louis doesn't fit into the "plot" of Smallville?
Smallville is based on the youth of Clark Kent. Correct? In the superman movies Louis meets Clark after he embraced his destiny full force. Well, Smallvile isn't about the mythology of superman, it's about the mythology of " young" Clark Kent. The only fellow people that Clark has come in contact over the years in Smallville, are Lana, Cloe, Pete, Lex, etc) their the ones that are important and relevant to Clark's destiny. They actually grew up with Clark, helping him along the way. Where was Louis? Honestly, she doesn't have a part in Clark's young life, which later down the road is going to be a downfall to knowing Clark at all. His friends, and family, and so fourth know him inside and out. Basically, they know what makes him tick. Louis isn't familiar with the mystery side of Clark, missing that aspect of him, is like missing the whole picture. Even in the superman movies Louis never got affiliated with Clark's destiny to the point of changing History. Only people who knew Clark from the very beginning of his destiny, we truly make a difference, and marked down in History! That's the plot of "Smallville." (Friends, and family, etc, who dedicate themselves to helping Clark embrace his destiny.) After all, without them, what would the plot be centered on according to Clark's youth? Then, arising into his destiny?

I think you mean Lois, not Louis. Lois is in Smallville because the is a main character in the Superman story. She might not have known him when he was a kid according to the mythology, but Smallville does not always hold true to the mythology. Sometimes they bring in characters that Clark did not actually get to know until later. Overall I think they are just trying to give the fans what they want by introducing the most popular characters on the show.
