Who do you think will win the semifinal matches in the World Cup? Who will be the World Cup champion?

Germany, who just defeated Argentina 4-0, will play Spain, who defeated Paraguay 1-0. In the other semifinal, Netherlands, who defeated Brazil 2-1, will take on Uruguay, who defeated Ghana. I like Germany and Netherlands to advance to the final. As impressive of Netherlands were to defeat long time powerhouse Brazil, I think Germany has the best team this year and will become the champions.

To be honest, I think both the semi-finals are really too close to call.

Holland - Uruguay

Both have good all-round teams, both have forwards capable of phenomenal strikes. Forlan looks like he is "in the zone" this World Cup. The Dutch forwards, not so much.

On paper the Dutch are somewhat favorites, but I would say not by much.

If I had to guess, my gut is saying... Holland 1 - 2 Uruguay (AET). Close fought contest, with maybe Holland having more of the play, but undone by exceptional Forlan strikes and deliveries from free kicks and corners.

Spain - Germany

Germany on a roll, well-organised, great spirit, and strikers who are clinical finishers with impeccable international pedigree.

Spain.. not hit their best consistently, but tremendously talented players all over the pitch, play well as a team, and have one of the best keepers in the world. Plus a striker that probably couldn't miss if he wanted to, he's so in the groove.

Can go either way, but if I have to guess, my instinct is Spain 1 - 0 Germany. Between excelling at keeping possession, strong defence, and an amazing keeper, Spain can prevent Germany scoring. Germany are good, but have not been able to deny any of their opponents a number of good scoring chances. They cannot keep David Villa from putting the ball in the net for 90 minutes.

If it goes the way I'm guessing, the final would be Uruguay - Spain.

It can go either way, for the reasons stated above, but Spain are favorites.

An important part of the game could be a personal duel between Forlan and Casillas. Does Forlan curl an unstoppable free kick into Casillas' net? Does Casillas make an unbelievable save or two to thwart Forlan's superb strikes?

It can go either way.

My guess... Uruguay 1 - 2 Spain. A good battle with lots of class on display from both sides, but in the end Spain have a bit too much for Uruguay. Uruguay as honorable runners-up, Spain as World Champions.

But... all the matches are pretty close... any of the four could go all the way.
