Who do you feel the top 5 Starting pitchers are in the American League?
When I look around baseball, it seems to me that ranking the top pitchers in the American League could be difficult. I am sure there can be cases made for 10 or so pitchers in each league, but for me, the following list in no particular order would be my top five in the American League. How would you list them and why do you feel that way? Do you feel there is a clear number one? Do you feel any of their current teams are in jeopardy of losing them within the next couple year to Free Agency?
Zack Grenke, Felix Hernandez, Justin Verlander, CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee (when healthy).

My top five are the following:
1. Zack Greinke
2. Justin Verlander
3. Felix Hernandez
4. C.C. Sabathia
5. Francisco Liriano
I think that Greinke is head and shoulders above the other pitchers in the American League and were he actually on a team that was not one of the worst teams in baseball, and has been for his entire career, he would be a sure fire hall of famer.
Greinke posted a 2.18 earned run average and still won just 16 games. This year so far he has a very respectable 2.72 ERA and yet he is just 1-4 on the season. The guy is absolutely hampered by the quality of his team like no other pitcher in baseball right now.
I was hesitant to put Liriano on the list, but I truly believe that when he is healthy he is one of the best around. I saw him pitch in person in his big breakout season, and his stuff is just as nasty as they come. Now that he appears to be all the way back, I feel safe including him.
