According to Wiki Answer, Pi is discovered by the Egyptians and Babylonians about 4000 years ago.
As for Answerbag.com, they said that the history of Pi goes back to the Babylonians at 2000BC.
The widely used 3.1418 value for Pi is known as Archimedes' Constant, after Archimedes of Syracuse.
