There isn't really a music director for a soundtrack of a movie but rather for the score of the film. The words have gotten a bit mixed up as soundtracks have become such a popular way to capitalize on the success of a film. While the composer has a bit of a say in what songs they use in the movie, the contracts are made between the studio or producer and the artists and licensing agents of the songs. Composers may or may not have anything to do with that deal.
The original music for the first Twilight movie was done by Carter Burwell. Carter has done Breaking Dawn as well and is well known for doing films such as Fargo, True Grit, and No Country for Old Men. He is the go to composer for Joel and Ethan Coen, otherwise known as the famous Coen Brothers.
As a composer, Mr. Burwell is very involved in soundtracks and has been nominated for putting together soundtracks including his original composing mixed with song selection by various artists.
