Who banned Christmas in England between 1647 and 1660?

Tip for best answer: M$1.15
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

@dianemommyoftwo, Christmas festivities were banned by Puritan leader Oliver Cromwell
The ban was only lifted when the Puritans lost power in 1660

The Puritan leader Oliver Cromwell, banned the Christmas (1647). He considered feasting on what was suppose to be a holy day to be immoral. People who celebrating was arrested. Anyway, the ban was lifted when the Puritans lost the power in 1660.

Using someone else's answer from another site for your only reference is not research nor a helpful answer. There is much more to be said about this subject and plenty of real sources.

I don’t think there is something wrong with this answer. The sources are in place and the answer is not copied. I vote up because it answers the question. Someone is in a bad mood!:)))))
