Who are the three dead musicians would you most want to travel back in time to see perform live?

On the weekend there was an Elvis Presley concert.
Anyway, it got me thinking about which music artists that are dead would I want to travel back in time to see perform live.

There were three in particular and I couldn't narrow it down any further (sorry but Elvis Presley's not one of them)

My three are Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury and James Brown.

What are your three?

Almost the first thing that came to mind was Billie Holliday and her performance of "Strange Fruit". This would be my first choice. I'm sure it would be an experience that I would never forget, one that would change me forever.

Betty Hutton would be my second choice. That little fireball of positive energy that entertained our troops in World War II is almost a hero to me, and her early singing knocks me out.

For my third choice, Patsy Cline. I've loved her singing ever since I was a boy, and I've always felt she died much too young. Imagine the music she might have left us if she had lived a long life.

I picked three singers that I never had a chance to hear live, singers that have had an impact or influence on my life, and three singers that I just think would be great to hear. Others who would be close would be John Denver and Jim Croce, two men who influenced my guitar playing and taste in music. As with Patsy, both men died too young and could have left us much more.

Wow, this is an awesome, fun question!
First of all, as I am sure many would say this and many probably had the chance, I would have to say Curt Cobain. I have always taken a huge interest in his music and lyrics, even though he was a bit rough around the edges, he was very poetic, and talented.
The second would have to be Sublime, the lead singer from that band died, and I really enjoyed their music as well, so another one I would love to actually see live.
Now on the third one, this is one that hits a little closer to home for me! I would absolutely love to go and see Hank Williams live. His music has been loved by most of my family, and I listened to him growing up. He has been a part of my whole life, so it would be really awesome to see him preform live, I would truly love that.

There are a number of musicians from the swing era that I would like to have seen. Gene Krupa, the drum master, Glenn Miller, the great band leader whose plane disappeared over the English Channel during World War 2 when he was on his way to entertain the troops. (His body was never found.) And, of course, Benny Goodman, the King of Swing would be high on my list.

Of the classical musicians, Mozart and Chopin.

But of the more contemporary musicians, I would like to have seen Duane Allman from the Allman Brothers Band who died in a motorcycle accident. Jim Morrison of the Doors, whose cause of death was never really established since no autopsy was performed, but is widely believed to have been caused by a heroin overdose. And Janis Joplin, who died of a heroin overdose combined with a mixture of alcohol. She was, in my opinion, was one of the greatest female vocalists ever, whose style is very hard to copy.

(I'm aware that this is more than three, but I couldn't narrow it down, sorry).

My first choice would be the great Frank Sinatra who sings one of my favorite songs, My Way. If there ever was one signature song for one singer that would be it. The song was written by Paul Anka and the lyrics were based on a French song Comme D'Habitude. But Sinatra turned it into his own personal anthm. I would travel back just to hear that one song done live, whether it was in New York or Las Vegas.

Love him or hate him, I wish I could have seen a Michael Jackson concert live. True, his life outside of the music industry was weird and unethical, but I chose to remember him for his music. He revolutionized the video industry and dancing in general. So many performers now grew up idolizing and imitating him.

And since the question excluded him, I would like to add the name Elvis Presley as my third choice. Mention Las Vegas and two performers come to mind: Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. Presley was a great performer who knew how to get the crowd into a frenzy.

Nice Question @edwardclint. I did not really have to give it a deep thought because I had been going through a list of late musicians and have been wondering what it would be like to have them back and if the music world would welcome a return from the dead (lol).

Well my first choice would be the king of pop, Michael Jackson. I actually love to watch his live performances on the T.V, even if I have never had the opportunity to go to any of his concerts. If I could travel back in time to watch a secular music performance, I would be on the first role for MJ.

My other choices are Aaliyah (Aaliyah Dana Haughton) and Left eye of ‘’TLC’’ (Lisa Nicole Lopes), hope you still remember them. They were my ‘’girls’’ and I miss them too and would surely love to see them perform again if it was possible.
