I have found a very small amount of information about Thomas Beatie's parents from the DailyMail in the UK - not the greatest newspaper for accuracy but its all I could find. I will quote the only section which mentions his parents...
"Back in 2000, Thomas Beatie was a woman called Tracy Lagondino living in Honolulu. Tracy and her two brothers were raised in Hawaii by their father after their mother committed suicide. No doubt, this tragic event greatly affected young Tracy"
