While travelling from West coast to East coast, what facilities (gym/shower) exist at or near major airports?

For business travel especially, taking red-eye flights for a 10am or 11am meeting would be great if I could shower before the meeting. Most hotels usually dont let you check-in until 2pm or later.
Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

You have more options than you would think.

There are some hotels and hotel chains that offer a service called twenty-four check in and check out, meaning that you can check in at any point in the day, and be charged for only one night as long as you check out within 24 hours.
A notable example is the Raffles Hotel chain. It has a number of locations in the LA area, as well as Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, DC, New Orleans, San Francisco, Scottsdale and Seattle.
The Peninsula Beverly Hills offers a similar service.
For a $25 fee, the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers will guarantee a 9 am checkin time.

Gyms are another good option.
If you go to www.gymticket.com, you can get a free guest pass to try out participating gyms.
www.ballyfitness.com also allows one free 7-day membership at any of its gyms, and for $30 per month, you can get nationwide membership.

I've been in the American Airlines Admiral's Club at LAX. They have showers. If not a member, you can buy a one-day pass for $50.

The easiest way is the search for the airport on Google Maps http://maps.google.com Type in the airport code (like LAX).

Then click the "Search Nearby" link. Enter the search term "gym".

Rinse and repeat. :)

I recommend 24 hour fitness or bailey's fitness a long the route that you
are traveling.
