What do you mean by full scan? Checking for dilation? I started going to the doctor once a week at 36 weeks and they would put my legs in the stirrups, goo me, stick their fingers in my tush to see if I'm dilating or effacing, and they'd also check the baby's heart beat and how she was positioned in my belly. They also did all the usual stuff like check my weight and take my blood pressure.
But if you mean first initial ultrasound where you can actually see the baby, I had that done at 20 weeks. And they don't do it again after that unless they feel its medically necessary. They'll take measurements of the baby with their fancy computer equipment and at that time they can tell you if you're having a boy or girl. You also get print outs to take home and frame or put in a baby book. =] It was fun stuff, but it took forever and by the time I got out I was starved and cranky because it took about two hours... so I recommend bringing snacks to that appointment.
