Paralympics officially started in the year 1960 in Rome. The person who started it is Dr. Ludwig Guttmann of Stoke Mandeville Hospital. He first organised a sports competition for British World War II veteran patients with spinal cord injuries in 1948 and organized another one in 1952. During that time it slowly evolved to becomes a paralympic games in 1960.
