Which would you choose if you could only choose one, a big wedding or a romantic and luxurious honeymoon?

I didn't want and didn't have a large wedding. We had a bonfire feast on summer solstice and called it a wedding. Alaskan scenery for decoration, good people for entertainment and plenty of amazing food lit by the fires of happiness. :) I could never imagine myself in a fluffy white dress walking down a church isle while others stared silently. (for one there are no churches of Odin in Alaska lol)
But man.. do I wish we'd have had the money to have a real honeymoon. We just went over to this little fishing town a few miles away and stayed ina bed and breakfast. We wanted to honey moon in Paris.. as my husband has always adored this song.

M$In the end, I spent much more on my honeymoon that I did on the wedding. My rational for this was the wedding was one day. Only one. But my honeymoon was where we got the chance to just enjoy each other without the real life stresses of work, family and everyday life. I wanted to enjoy it and take full advantage of it. I wanted it to be memorable.
I'm sure you've all seen the magazines or had friends that insisted on having outlandish weddings. Hundreds or thousands of dollars spent for one day. A dress you'll only wear once. I just can't wrap my head around that kind of waste of money. I would rather spend that money on an adventure or an experience. Not a dress.
We honeymooned in Key West. It was hands down the very best vacation I have ever had. Sunset on a jet ski in the ocean. Art galleries, bar bands, and walking along the coast.
While I will never forget my wedding day, I will always cherish that week in Key West.

Of course no one goes into marriage thinking they are going to divorce but some groups are more likely than others. So I say, skip the wedding and the annoying relatives, and go for the honeymoon - thats where all the fun is supposed to be anyway. And then when the divorce happens, you can say - hey at least I had a great honeymoon.

M$The wedding day is ONE day and half the time you're too busy to enjoy it. You've had to invite people you wont see for ages, and family you don't like, and friends of friends who are there for the food :)
But the honeymoon is for you and your partner. Is there a better way to start a life together than with a luxurious vacation away from hassles and bills and family????
Days....weeks maybe of bliss and pampering and loving :)
