Which US online travel guide has better expert content - Frommers, TripCart.com, Fodors, Concierge.com, LonelyPlanet, TripAdvisor, IgoUgo?

Those are some of the sites that Mahalo links to.

When I buy a book - its LonelyPlanet. When my parents buy one its Fodors or Frommers. Online, I am not really satisfied.

LonelyPlanet gives me only a fraction of the book. Frommers/Fodors gives me lots but the content is very template like and not designed for the webs.

TripAdvisor is great, but I still think of them as a site to select hotels.

IgoUgo is lots of fun, but I feel like I am missing the "expert angle".

TripCart is new and one of the many travel 2.0 startups - TripWiser, TripHub, TripSay, NileGuide, etc to come along. These sites have easier to access content and make great use of the map for trip planning.

Take your favorite US travel destination, compare the above guides. Tell me who wins.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Tripcart is my favorite because it combines the things I like to see - Expert advice, map-driven, concise highlights and a touch of community...I would like to see them expand to the world.

I would recommend global hotel review, very simple and to the point: http://www.globalhotelreview.com/

I prefer Fodors or LonelyPlanet. Fodors are usually consistently good while I find that the Lonely Planet guides have more excellent books. The problem with the Lonley Planet guides is that the quality varies from book to book. For example their Tanzania guide is Awesome, while their Israel guide is utter crap. I recommend checking Amazon.com reader reviews on the speicifc topics you're considering getting.

For basic travel info online is ok, but for indepth info I prefer an old fashioned book like LonelyPlanet
