Which team made the best moves at the NBA Trade Deadline?

As is always the case, there a multitude of trades finalized at the 2010 NBA Trade Deadline. Among the well known names moving to other clubs for the remainder of the season include Tracy McGrady, Nate Robinson, Antawn Jamieson, and Eddie House. Still there two big names that didn't get dealt, as Carlos Boozer and Amare Stoudemire.

So which team did the best job of helping themselves the most?

Well for this season Antawn Jamison is a huge move. It will probably get the Cavs into the NBA Finals, and *maybe* a Championship, though I doubt it (I'm a Laker fan).

The Mavs also did well getting Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood, which puts them into contention for 2nd place in the West. However, even unbiased commentators are not giving much of a chance against the Lakers.

The Knicks made important moves in order to clear out $30 million dollars of cap space. This will allow them to contend for some big names in the off season - particularly Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Amare Stoudemire, and Chris Bosh.

To sum it all up: The Cavs move will have the most impact for this season, but the Knicks move may be the most impactful overall (since they may be able to land a big name in the off season).

Going in a completely different direction, I think you have to give the Wizards some credit for what they did here. They moved Butler, Haywood, Stevenson and Jamison, while taking on expiring contracts and players seeking buyouts like Ilgauskas that can free up some major cash flow for them going into free agency.

That is the strategy that the Wizards used the last time they had a playoff team when they built around the now troubled Gilbert Arenas. It also was the strategy for the Hawks a few years ago when they dumped guys like Rasheed Wallace, Nazr Mohammed, Shareef Abdur-Raheem and company. Look at the collection of talent they have now.

I would say the Knicks because now they have a legitimate shot at Lebron James.

Short-term the best moves were made by Cleveland: getting Antawn Jamieson, a great locker room guy, offensive player, and rebounder. Sebastian Telfair might surprise some people too as a decent back-up PG.

Long-term: Houston is the winner in my books because they traded someone that was a cancer on the team and got back a good young prospect in Jordan Hill, 2 future 1st round picks (provided they swap picks with NY that one year), AND they got a borderline all-star shooting guard, Kevin Martin, that is young and under a reasonable contract provided he keeps improving.

I would say Jazz did well getting rid of Brewer.
I like Camby a lot, he's awesome and Portland needs the hep, but I don't think Portland was wise filling the injury prone Oden with another injury prone Camby. Especially since Camby will be the most expensive player on the team.
