The tests compare many different aspects of NeoOffice 2.2.5 vs. NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access vs. OpenOffice.org 3.0 vs. Microsoft Office 2004 vs. Microsoft Office 2008 running on both an Intel machine (Mac OS X 10.4.11, MacBook Pro 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 1 GB RAM) and a PPC Machine (Mac OS X 10.4.11, PowerBook 1.67 GHz PPC G4, 1 GB RAM).
Based on the test results shown here, Neo Office beat Open Office in almost every category.

On a Mac, it's super easy to try things out. Remember for the most part all you have to do is drag the application to the trash bin and it's uninstalled.
