Which printer would you choose? I would be using it for printing digital photos. I need the multi function for the scanner. Choices below

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Epson, hands down, because HP printers use a proprietary lock system on their cartridges (both inkjet and laser). You can't refill your own cartridges, which just annoys me to no end because the last HP that I had required thirty-dollar cartridges - for black ink, no less. You also have a very-difficult time finding third-party refills (which, by the way, do void your warranty if you use them) unless you shop online. Which of course involves shipping charges and all that fun stuff.

Also, the only HP printer I've ever had, that didn't just die on me within a year, is the LaserJet 1020 that is currently sitting in storage because it was actually cheaper for me to buy a brand-new Brother printer, with cartridge, than it was to buy a replacement cartridge for that sucker. And I can refill the Brother laser cartridge by myself with a fifteen-dollar bottle of toner.

The last Epson inkjet that I had worked very well for something like two years, which is amazing when we're talking about modern inkjet printers. Not many of them are really designed to last for very long, I'm sorry to say.
