Which paid sources of online information do you subscribe to, and why?

With so much information available online for free, are there sources that you find worth paying for? What are they, and why do you value them above free alternatives?

You can interpret this in a broad sense to cover things like newspapers, magazines, journals, encyclopedias, and other information sources.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I subscribe to Total Fark, which is basically Fark.com on crack, normal Fark you might get 50 stories a day, Total Fark you 1000s. I do it for two reasons really, I love the content and there are so many wacky stories that I end up sharing around. I also know the money goes to supporting the community which I genuinely appreciate.

It's only 5 bucks, I can afford that...for now.

I suscribe to Consumer Reports online. Great value for the money because they are unbiased and extremely thorough. If you've ever watched the video about how they tested vacuums, for example, you'll know what I mean. I feel like I'm on the inside track whenever I'm about to make a big purchase because Consumer Reports has usually done the work for me.

If you're part of a business that needs to track down people, there's no better service than Accurint. I used to be part of such a company and Accurint was absolutely amazing at producing high quality results. 8/10 times, we found the person we were looking for. Caveat: you've got to be a certain type of business (i.e., banking, collections, government, healthcare, insurance, law enforcement, legal professions, etc.) to qualify. Can't be Joe Stalker.

Useful info thanks.

Are there any pay-per-report sites like Consumer Reports? I don't think I'd want to use it often enough to subscribe, but once in a while I might want to check something out.

I don't know that there are, but that's an interesting business model. When that once in a while comes, just send me an IM or email. I'd be happy to look something up for you. It takes no time at all.

The only thing I pay for online is my Pogo games and my Yahoo music and I just lost that.

National Review Online. I get the print magazine as well as access to PDFs of it online in case I am impatient with the mail.

None, really.

Anything that you can find on a paid service, you can find using a few quick searches (or some good solid time on M!A) just as easily.
