Which NBA Draft Batch has the Greatest Pool of Basketball Talents?

Tip for best answer: M$0.75
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Wow, I find it hard to argue with the draft year 1984 you have listed. When there is talk, you also see the 1996 and 2003 drafts mentioned, but I have to agree with you, with 2003 barely behind. If the 1960 draft was deeper than just Oscar Robertson and Jerry West we could have had something to talk about.

1996
1 Allen Iverson
2 Marcus Camby
3 Shareef Abdur-Rahim
4 Stephon Marbury
5 Ray Allen
6 Antoine Walker
7 Lorenzen Wright
8 Kerry Kittles
9 Samaki Walker
10 Erick Dampier
11 Todd Fuller
12 Vitaly Potapenko
13 Kobe Bryant
14 Peja Stojakovic
15 Steve Nash
16 Tony Delk
17 Jermaine O'Neal
18 John Wallace
19 Walter McCarty
20 Zydrunas Ilgauskas
21 Dontae' Jones
22 Roy Rogers
23 Efthimi Rentzias
24 Derek Fisher
25 Martin Muursepp
26 Jerome Williams
27 Brian Evans
28 Priest Lauderdale
29 Travis Knight

2003
1 LeBron James
2 Darko Milicic
3 Carmelo Anthony
4 Chris Bosh
5 Dwyane Wade
6 Chris Kaman

Without a doubt, it's the class of 1984. This draft produced Hall of Fame or soon to be Hall of Fame players Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan and John Stockton. There were also many very good players with long productive careers out of that class. Those included Sam Perkins, Alvin Robertson, Otis Thorpe, Kevin Willis, Michael Cage and Vern Fleming.

Michael Jordan scored 32,292 points, averaged 30.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. He won six NBA Championships and five MVP awards.

Hakeem Olajuwon scored 26,946 points, averaged 21.8 points, 11.1 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots per game. He was a 12 time NBA All Star and won two NBA Championships.

Charles Barkley scored 23,757 points, averaged 22.1 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He was an 11 time NBA All Star and league MVP in 1993

John Stockton scored 19,711 points, averaged 13.1 points, 10.5 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He was a 10 time NBA All Star.

Sam Perkins scored 15,324 points, averaged 11.9 points and 6 rebounds per game. He was a member of the NBA All Rookie Team in 1984 - 1985.

Alvin Robertson scored 10,882 points, averaged 14.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.7 steals per game. He was a four time NBA All Star.

Otis Thorpe scored 17,600 points, averaged 14.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. He won an NBA Championship in 1994 and was an All Star in 1992.

Kevin Willis scored 17,230 points, averaged 12.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He's one of 15 players in NBA history with over 16,000 career points and 11,000 career rebounds and was an All Star in 1992.

Michael Cage scored 8,278 points, averaged 7.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He lead the league in rebounding twice.

Vern Fleming scored 10,125 points, averaged 11.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
