Which Miles Davis album would you recommend to someone new to the artist?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'd say start out with "Kind of Blue." Accessible to jazz newbies, hailed by jazz connoisseurs, and Miles has a kickin' band that includes Coltrane, Bill Evans, and Cannonball Adderly.

M$If you are a fan of Bebop music, you should definitely check out his 1957 album Birth of the Cool.

If you are a fusion and rock fan, try one of his fusion era masterpieces, probably "Bitches Brew" would be best.

If you enjoy a little Spanish-Flavor, my personal favorite is the album Sketches of Spain.

I've also included the Classic Davis tune "So What", from Kind of Blue. If you like that, you'll love the rest of the album.

M$Here's one of my favorites, completely tasty, a version of Round Midnight that starts off with Davis playing it straight and then just cascades off into exploration.
Lucky you! you are really in for a treat
