The major that is held at the same location each year is The Masters which is played at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. The tournament has been held there since its inception back in 1934. The British Open uses nine different courses in its rotation. Those courses are Old Course at St Andrews, Carnoustie Golf Links, Muirfield, The Turnberry Resort, Royal Troon Golf Club, Royal St George's Golf Club, Royal Birkdale Golf Club, Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club and Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
The PGA Championship has been held at a variety of venues over the years and now is limited to a small group of notable courses. The US Open has also been played on numerous courses that are among the most difficuly in the United States. I think a benefit of this rotation is each golf club gets extra exposure during that week of the year, brings in more revenue for the club and gives the locals a great golfing event to go to. I like the tradition of Augusta though for The Masters. It's my favorite tournament of the year because of its rich history and tradition.
