The major golf tournament in Fort Worth is the Colonial Invitational Golf Tournament which is officially called Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. This is one of the most prestigious and historical events of the Tour calendar and the home course of the legend in golf Hogan] who hails from Fort Worth. This is a regular golf tournament on the PGA Tour and played every year in Forth Worth, Texas in May. The golf is held at Colonial Country Club. The tour is also the longest running even on the Tour that is held on the original location.
The said tournament which was founded in 1946 was called Colonial National invitation. This tournament honors the history of golf by using the official Scottish titan plaid jacket that is awarded for the winners and champions.
The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial is only one of the five tournaments that are considered "invitational" by the PGA Tour. The other four tournaments that are invitational are the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Heritage, the Memorial Tournament and the AT&T National.
