Which laptop would be best to buy?

Apple or PC? It would be for personal use and for working on my website.
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'd say it depends on your preference, and on availability of the kind of apps you need to use to do what you want to do.

I play games a lot, so in my case I'd probably get a tricked-out PC laptop; also I'm most familiar with PC apps so that would go hand-in-hand with other stuff I like to do.

If you like "no muss, no fuss" computing, maybe a Mac would be a better choice; sometimes if you're not intimately familiar with some aspects of how computers and operating systems work, a PC experience for example can prove to be frustrating.

Macs are lovely, but there are certain problems you will likely run into.

Many apps aren't available for Macs, and some websites don't make all their services available to Macs. For example itv.com in the UK offers a big collection of streaming video of their classic shows, but last time I looked they only support PCs and you can't watch on a Mac at all.

Some websites don't work properly in the Safari browser.

Also if you ever have to call up a tech support line, say to ask something like "Why can't I get into your wireless network any more?", they will be even more clueless about Mac issues than PC issues.

So personally, I stick with PCs.

But Macs are lovely, and I love my iPod Touch.

I think that if you are a person that knows more about computers than the average person does you would feel more comfortable with a PC because there is a lot more that you can do on them, and a lot of programs can be easily hacked to work better for your needs, and preference.
