Which is the worse movie: Armageddon, or The Core?

Tip for best answer: M$50.00

Depends on your definition of "worse". If you are going by the definition in Merriam-Webster, "of more inferior quality, value, or condition" then THE CORE is by far the worse film. But to know which film is worse, we must determine which film is better.

First and foremost, if you are going by "quality", then ARMAGEDDON wins this round. Shot by cinematographer John Schwartzman and directed by Michael Bay, the film is visually beautiful. THE CORE is visually boring. Shot by cinematographer John Lindey and directed by Jon Amiel, the picture has the look and feel of an amateur.

Secondly, the "value" is also surpassed by ARMAGEDDON. With a worldwide gross of over $550 million dollars, it easily made a massive profit over the $140 million dollar cost to make the film. THE CORE only cost $60 million to make, but it was a major loss, only grossing slightly over $30 million dollars worldwide.

And lastly, the film with the superior "condition" (for this i shall refer to the people's ratings) is ARMAGEDDON. It scored a 6.0 on IMDB while THE CORE was only able to scrounge up a 5.3 rating. But with box office scores alone, ARMAGEDDON is a clear winner, being the better of the two films.

To further my point, ARMAGEDDON has spawned endless parodying/satires securing it's seat in our pop culture. THE CORE is not even worthy of mockery... it's just that bad.

Though I can't tell if that makes this the WORST movie ever or the BEST movie ever. You make the call.

Definitely The Core. Armageddon is cheesy, but there is real emotion there when Bruce Willis sacrifices himself so his daughter's fiance who he doesn't even like can live instead of getting blow up trying to stop an asteroid from hitting earth. All The Core has is Stanley Tucci realizing what a jerk he is before dying in a nuclear explosion at the center of the earth.

I would have to say Armageddon... the acting was horrible and story was totally outlandish... TOTAL B Movie! :)

I liked Core best...
The story was outlandish too; however, it was a fun, mostly because my favorite line in the movie was, "You want me to hack the planet? He wants me to hack the planet... Ok, *if* I decide to do this, I'll need an unlimited supply of Xena tapes and Hotpockets."

Metacritic.com gave "The Core" a rating of 48 (mixed or average reviews) and "Armageddon" a rating of 42. Rotten Tomatoes scored "The Core" at 42 percent and Armageddon at 40 percent. I think we have a clear winner.

Although, no film has a better Steve Buscemi musical number.

I'm going against the grain here, Armageddon was bad, but I found it somewhat entertaining back in the day (see Buscemi rail gun comment above). The Core however was so bad it turned me into a religious man for 2 years after seeing it, I prayed to god every night to make me forget about the horrors I had seen...Unlike Armageddon, the core had no entertaining moments.

I took a woman on a date to see the Core, not only did she leave me, she murdered all my cats in a rage of disappointment.
(one cat was still only a kitten, can you believe the Core caused the murder of an innocent kitten, Armageddon did not cause any such crimes)

To get a second opinion, I took my mom to see the Core and she disowned me, In fact she divorced my father just to prove a point, my grandma won't even return my phonecalls because "i ruined the family for generations". So I guess I'm a little biased.

We can get logistical too, lets lose my opinion and look at facts,The Core makers lost lots of money. They spent 105 Million producing and advertising and only made 74 Million worldwide (they made more money overseas probably because Delroy Lindo is huge in Africa.)

Armageddon on the other hand spent 175 Million and made a whopping 550 Million! That's a profit. So even without my opinion, the free market has spoken. The Core is worse So bad that director Jon Amiel hasn't released a film since.

Not to mention without "Unobtainium" you have no film.

I'm gonna have to join the chorus supporting "Armageddon" as the inferior film, as it includes this scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aD25aAsDqZ8

Michael Bay can't really direct at all, and it's painfully obvious from this film. The dramatic scenes are stilted and ludicrous, like a soap opera that, for some reason, stars Liv Tyler and Billy Bob Thornton. And the action scenes perfectly replicate the experience of being in one of those cheap spinning carnival ride. (Tilt a Whirl's)? You feel yourself moving fast, and there's lots of stuff whipping around you, but you have no actual idea what's going on, and it takes only a few moments before you start to feel sick.
