Which is the best pro football team in NFL history (team and year) and why?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

1972 Miami Dolphins team members who are now in the Hall of Fame:
Nick Buoniconti, Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Jim Langer, Larry Little, and Paul Warfield (not to mention Coach Shula)
Also consider this:
1. They became the first team to advance 3x in a row to the Superbowl (1972 was the 2nd in that series)
2. They had the NFLs best defensive record that year
3. Csonka and Morris became the first teammates to rush for 1K yards each in the same season
4. The offense set the NFL rushing record that year
5. Their most lopsided win also occurred that year, 52-0 over the New England Patriots (who apparently didn't show up for the game!)
Personally I'm a Cowboys fan, but I think credit should be given where credit is due. Miami's 1972 team is the only team to complete the entire season including post-season games, undefeated. Granted, they were 3-3 in the pre-season, but their record still stands alone.

If the question was "best record" there could be no argument, but "best record" is not necessarily equal to "best team." Pittsburgh, Green Bay, New England, Dallas, San Francisco, etc. all can make claim to "best team."
In terms of members in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, The '76 Steelers fielded nine, not to mention the coach and two owners (that makes 12). That team fielded the best defense in history, pitching five shutouts with a third-string quarterback. The hall of famers are::
Arthur J. Rooney Founder, President, and Chairman of the Board (1933-1988). Elected in 1964.
Daniel M. Rooney President (1955-present). Elected in 2000.
