Dirty Dancing! Hands-down.
Please, allow me to supply you with a list of reasons why Dirty Dancing truly is the superior film:
1.) These pictures say it all:

VS.

2.) Much more quotable: "Nobody puts Baby in a corner"
3.) The uptight bad guy trying to put a stop to the dancing?
In DD, it's badass Jerry Orbach, of Law & Order fame.
In Footloose? John Lithgow, the pretentious guy from 3rd Rock From the Sun. Ugh.
4.) I'd take a drunken dancehall--full of sexually suggestive dances performed by college kids--over an Oklahoma prom, any day of the week!
5.) Footloose had an unfortunate soundtrack that included Quiet Riot, Foreigner, and Kenny Loggins.
Dirty Dancing's soundtrack featured The Four Seasons, The Ronettes, Otis Redding, The Contours, and the man HIMSELF, Mr. Patrick Swayze.
6.) Memories of my sister and I trying to do "the lift".
7.) DD didn't need any big name stars to be great. Patrick Swayze was barely known. Jennifer Grey and other cast members were far from stars. Footloose can't say the same thing.
8.) DD had the courage to tackle the tough issues--abortion! Whereas Footloose took on the oh-so-tough issue of zealous priests banning dancing. Their depths don't quite compare, do they?
9.) DD grossed over $170 million worldwide.
Footloose only grossed $80 million.
10.) DD was the first movie to ever sell a million copies on video.
11.) Oh, and did I mention?
