Which has a bigger following: Harry Potter or Twilight?

This would have to be Harry Potter because of the worldwide success of the series. Looking at sales of the books and movies also shows Harry Potter as being more successful, which indicates a bigger following:

"Rowling, overall, has sold more books than Meyer — her seven-book series about boy wizard Harry Potter has 143 million copies in print in the USA, while Meyer has sold 40 million copies of her four books."

Movie success -
Twilight #112 all time grossing - $191million
New Moon #34 - $297million

Potter Series #25, 33, 37, 40, 47, 58 - $318million, $302million, $292million, $290million, $262million, $249million

In my opinion, Harry Potter.

Twilight is aimed at a very specific niche in the market (teenage girls, mainly) whereas Harry Potter begins as a children's book and morphs into a young adult and finally "grownup" book by the end of the series. Harry Potter has also been translated into more than 60 languages, which reaches much more people around the world than Twilight (I believe the translation count is some 15 languages at the moment?). Harry Potter also addresses much more pertinent issues (slavery, class differences, responsibility, perception of evil or "the greater good," and tons more), while Twilight addresses the importance of the heart's desire and how to fight for it (which is great, but rather a narrow focus), therefore more people are bound to continue reading Harry Potter as there is a more diverse plot than in Twilight. Harry Potter has also been around much longer, and there is a very dedicated following among those that grew up with the series. There's also that minor point that Harry Potter is much more well-written...

Well on behalf of my fellow Twilight followers, I will say Twilight, regardless of the following, there is some truth in the beliefs of Our Native American Culture with regards to the Shape Changers & the Wolf Spirit, therefore I would have to say, Twilight it is more believeable & closer ot the heart of mankind, we who have a spiritual self can feel our spirits moving when we watch Twilight, although I am far from being a teen, I am very in touch with m spiritual self enough to know I am moved when I watch & read all the books of the Twilight saga... Just as we are when we watch the replay of the 911 attacks, It is a part of our being, who & what we are. "SPIRIT"

I would think it's Harry Potter, it has a very broad appeal. It is well liked by kids and adults. Twilight is going to fade out after the last movie comes out, but Harry Potter books will still be read by millions of people even after the movies are done. Time will tell, but my vote is with Harry Potter.

It actually depends: for example, Harry Potter is aimed at a wider market than Twilight; this is the reason that I would say that Harry Potter has a larger following. Whereas, Twilight is not very appealing to children, only to teenagers, whereas Harry Potter would be appealing to both children AND teenagers.

Hope I Helped!
