Hi cnp2313!

There are a few different diseases which list hair loss as a major side effect.

Tinea Capitis - This disease is basically a scalp fungal infection, also known as ringworm of the scalp. The actual infection that causes Tinea Capitis is caused by a mold like fungi called dermatophytes. This disease is highly infectious and only effects small children. The symptoms of Tinea Capitis include inflammation and redness of the scalp as well as itchiness, round scaly spots, hair loss, possible appearance of small black dots on scalp.

Alopecia Areata - is a hair loss disease but the cause of Alopecia Areata is still not 100% certain. A possible cause for this condition could include hereditary causes, and possibly an auto immune disorder.

Telogen Effluvium - this is a temporary hair loss condition related to stress of an illness or disease.
