While the United States has arguably the best health care system in the world, leading in research and new techniques, our legal and insurance system is all but sinking the process. While the lobbies continue to fund politicians to control how monies are spent, instead of curing cancer drug companies are coming up with even more ED medication. This does serve the greater purpose of funding the more important research, but hospitals and doctors find themselves limited by what the insurance companies will allow them to do. These limitations are put on them by the legal system which believes every lawsuit is worth 10 million dollars and people will settle for much less than that. Because of the cost of a court case, doctors and hospitals are forced to settle such cases for still lofty sums, increasing the outpouring of monies to lawyers and insurance companies.

While the medicine is not as advanced, Australia has found a nice way to marry socialized medicine with the United States version by allowing you to purchase supplemental insurance for elective procedures. This somewhat removes the problems the UK and Canada are currently having.

All in all health care reform is important, but it means reforming the legal system as well. Suing for true malpractice is one thing, suing for any slight mistake is another. Doctors and the people who work in hospitals are human, there will be mistakes. If it is negligence then we should be able to sue. If it is a simple mistake then there needs to be a way to weed that out. Especially with experimental procedures, people are going to die, it happens. It is not always a sue worthy event.

The United States has unarguably the best health care system in the world. This is why so many people across the planet are working to speak out against changing the system to a more European socialized medicine system. Residents of the UK and Canada are speaking out against changing the system here. After all, many residents from those countries who have critical health care needs travel to the USA on health visas in order to get the care and treatment they need, more rapidly and with better results.

We have had dignitaries and leaders from around the globe come to the USA to get their health care, surgeries, and other life-saving procedures. The research capabilities and the private funding for new equipment, testing devices, and medications helps to make the United States health care system one that can rival any other in the world. There is exceptional physical and mental health care facilities across the nation. There is health care available to not only those who can pay, but the poor and indigent as well.

When the government begins to intervene in the ways that this current Administration has chosen to, they are circumventing the process, they are reducing the ability of researchers and manufacturers, and they are tying the hands of health care professionals. In this way they will reduce the capability of the United States to continue to perform in the exceptional manners in which it currently supports the health and welfare of the world.
