Which company has the worst customer service you've ever experienced, and which has the best?

Tip for best answer: M$1.10
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Without a doubt Geek Squad.

On the 8th of July this year brought my laptop in for diagnosis and repair. It turns out my hard drive was defective and they replaced it within 4 days. That is the good part.

On the 12th of July this year I brought it back because the battery was no longer charging. I was told It would be "escalated" because of the recent fix and the current inconvenience. Well it turns out the laptop had to be shipped from New Hampshire USA to Kentucky for a diagnosis.

In Kentucky the techs discovered that there was no problem with the computer, the AC adapter was bad. Well Geek Squad had failed to send my AC adapter to Kentucky and the techs down there were holding my laptop waiting for them to do so... for 2 weeks. I called Best Buy and Geek Squad but they told me that this was normal protocol. What? I cannot grasp not sending the entire computer as "normal protocol".

I was then informed that my AC adapter would be replaced but BestBuy did not carry it .. I would have to wait as it was to be ordered and then sent to my address.. cool right? Nope, the adapter was back-ordered and it would be another 3 weeks before I received it in the mail. Meanwhile I have had my computer back for over a week with no adapter and no way to charge the battery.

BestBuy told me again this was "normal" What? I had to purchase a $90.00 universal adapter to use while I waited. The BestBuy salesperson that sold me the universal told me "Everyone has this problem. We don't carry s**t, just buy this, pay cash, and return it when you get the new one in the mail"..
What?

*Every* other customer service encounter I have ever experienced in my life was the best when compare to the hard time I had with BestBuy and Geek Squad.

Hands down the company with the worst customer service:
The United States Federal Government
(Don't believe me? Give them a call and ask what their going to do to solve the problem your having with them.)

The best customer service:
The Missouri State Highway patrol
(every service they have ever supplied me with has been swift and decisive)

With sarcastic Humor intended

The Worst is Walmart with long lines and very few check out stands open, and rude employees, if you can find one.
The Best is Chick-Fil-A, they are always (well almost always, Chick-Fil-A in malls and airports are a different story) polite, seem cheerful, and the food is usually quite good for fast food.

Paypal's customer service line. I waited for a repalcement card for months. After the first month I called back an a foreign man had the gull to ask me if I looked in my mail box for a large white envelope with the words paypal on them. He must have thought because I am female he needed to treat me as a simpleton. I hung up on him.

Paypal says they don't outsource but that is a lie. I love paypal and have used it for many years, but the customer service sucks.

I'd have to agree about PayPal. They attempted charges on my account that resulted in hundreds of dollars worth of overdraft fees. I called their customer service department to complain and got someone with a thick Indian accent who didn't even seem to care.

I am fairly active on Twitter and one day saw an opportunity to buy a refurbished Dell Netbook with a significant discount. Naturally I bought it. It arrived and with much excitement I set it up and started to use it. Oh no, a flaw. I contacted Dell and they offered me $15 and then $32 to keep it....but $39 to return it. IRONY in the making.

Naturally I went to @delloutlet on Twitter and reported the same. they could not do anything and I ended up losing $39 to return a physically damaged netbook.

FAIL on the part of Dell and their customer service.

The worst is ACS, where my college loans got sold to. Had to take extreme measures and involve a third party to get ahold of them by phone!

The best is Pampered Chef. I wanted to return a product because it was different than expected, and they had fedex pick it up next day, no charge!

Citi Credit Card was pretty bad for us. My wife sent a check with a note that listed what account to credit the check to, and she wrote the account number on the check. So they credited the check to an account that had been closed.

Amazon has been good to me. A lot better than eBay.

Ray Price Ford-Lincoln Mercury in Pennsylvania has the worst service I have ever seen. I have witnessed them taking advantage of people in their repair service and snubbing customers for profit.

I still used Paypal.
Don't think of it being that bad I will never use it again.

They just have horrible rating because they can never get the problem fixed in fast amount of time.
Everything takes FOREVER.
They are too careful and protective over there clients.

Its with just cause because they have a lot of people who use their service to scam people.

How ever it is a great service to use.

If you are going to use paypal as a credit card service for a web business I would actually think about using Google Checkout instead.

I'm starting a site, and I was looking to add the paypal service to it. If you don't mind me asking, what were the problems you had with it.
