My older children liked Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I don't know how many times I read that book over the years. LOL My youngest son is nine and just getting to where he can read pretty well so we actually read to each other. :) Our favorites are Thomas the Tank Engine and Dr. Suess.

M$When I was younger, I had a nursery rhyme book that was my favorite. I would read it constantly. I have the book now still and will read it to my daughter when she gets older, though she has something similar and more recent which might be better since the other book is quite old.
I don't remember many other children pictures books being my favorite. I know I enjoyed the story, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh. I'm not sure the reading level of that book though since I was an independent reader when I was reading it.
Oh the David Smells books are pretty funny. You might try those.
