This is a surprisingly difficult question to answer. Most reviews are subjective, and you're not going to get much more than simple anecdotal evidence by reading individual reviews. When you're trying to figure out absolute answers to questions like this, I think the best option is to look for information and surveys that have a large sample size. In this case, Consumer Reports seems to do a pretty good job.
Unfortunately, I can't give you the whole story because Consumer Reports requires a membership to view some of their findings. However, on the page I've included below, they seem to favor Verizon over other U.S. carriers. The company beat others because they have been consistently good over several years, they offer competitive technology and features, and they have a variety of contract and no-contract service plans.
