Where's a good, cheap, all inclusive, US Based, Family vacation?

My kids will be 3 and 6. The wife an I are looking for a family getaway. We've done a Time-share right off the beach at St. Augustine (nice) and before kids Eureka Springs and Omaha, and are looking for something similarly low-key and "simple".

We're not ready for Disney yet, and Dollywood was overwhelming. And, we don't mind something landlocked near natural or archaeological sites. (South Dakota? Oregon?)

A "nearly" all inclusive motel with a waterpark might be good for us too. (Are the Schlitterbahn's any good?) I heard there's something similar near Lake of the Ozarks?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Well, we've got an aquatic center like that next door to our house, LOL. What we're hoping is that it's within walking distance of our motel room. I checked that link though, and hit "resorts" and found this place...

How about Holiday World and Splashin Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana? We took our boys (5 and 2 at the time) there last summer. We actually stayed in Louisville and then drove roughly 40 minutes to the park. It is pretty cheap and one of the best water parks I have been too. Check out the link below to see all of the different attractions. I hope this helps.

It sure does. My parents live right down there and have suggested it for a vacation with them. This is the place with the "free soda", right?

Since your family has spent your vacation on a beach, it wouldn't hurt to spend another vacation on a guest ranch in Oregon. I have checked some marvelous ranches in Oregon where toddlers and young children can enjoy exploring nature and wildlife. I have children ages 1, 3, 5 and 7, and they are simply awe inspired with animals, and nature tripping. The ranches can be a great place to be for the kids and at the same time for you parents to have a relaxing day with them.

Check these site:

Or you can still go to another beach vacation with the kids. This time, you can try and spend it at a private beach house where you can definitely get the privacy you wanted. At the same time, the children can have their beach and castle building activities.

For an Oregon beach vacation, check out this site:

Oooh, that sounds good!

I just found that the YMCA has a bunch of "resorts" (one is even an hour or two from St. Louis).

We'd been looking at this one in Colorado too.

This one in Phoenix sounds nice (VERY PRICEY), but it within driving distance of some of the archaeological ruins up in the Phoenix hills. (And we have a friend who lives in Phoenix we haven't scene for a while.)

Here is a list of waterpark places I found.

Here's one I don't think we'd be going too... LOL

And, the general summary page I found lots of these (got here through easyeboy's links....)
