White Sands, New Mexico, would be the third option if the weather at KSC and Edwards remained poor for several days.
In addition to the three primary "end of mission" landing sites (KSC, Edwards, and White Sands), there are backup and emergency landing sites for the Space Shuttle worldwide. These include "augmented" landing sites in Morocco, The Gambia, and Spain, as well as 24 "emergency" and 2 "augmented emergency" landing sites worldwide.
