The University of Portland is situated on the Bluffs above the Willamette River in North Portland. North Portland is a residential area and there aren't any hotels that are located within walking distance to the school. However, Portland is a small city and if you have a car you can easily stay in downtown at any number of the hotels there and within 10 minutes you will find yourself on the University campus.
There are many wonderful hotels downtown and one of the best websites for finding excellent hotel rates and deals is Hotels.com. If you prefer to be a little bit closer to the University you can check out some of the hotels on Jantzen Beach which include an Oxford Suites and a Red Lion Hotel. Jantzen Beach is about a 5 minute drive from the school campus and right off of the I-5.
If you are open to bed and breakfast or apartment rental options, there is a new website called AirBnB (www.airbnb.com) where you can rent rooms or private apartments and houses for a night or longer and have all of the comforts of home right at your fingertips for less than most hotels charge.
