Where should I buy a vinyl record player?

Online or in the LA Area--I'm moving soon and really hoping to be able to play some of the classic albums on a classic player.
Tip for best answer: M$1.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I suggest you buy Numark TTUSB Turntable with USB at amazon.com for just $81.04, just right for your listening pleasure. According to a review by 'Cactus Chris' of Sandia Park, NM USA, he posted that the Numark TTUSB Turntable with USB is "Almost Perfect,"

I've been looking for a way to easily convert the old vinyl to iPod-ready MP3s. A bunch of my old LPs will never see the light of a CD so this looked like a great, one-step way of digitizing the old, round, black things with all the grooves.

Backstory: I'm a Mac guy, and I've worked with and taught audio production for a number of years so I more or less know my way around the audio world. That said... "

I would go to a DJ store and buy a top of the line player. I've bought half a dozen "vintage" turntables and none of them sound as good as my Numark. And four of them broke. If you want it to sound more warm get a vintage tube amplifier.

I'm not a big fan of most auction sites but I have to say for this type of thing your best bet is really eBay.

Why am I suggesting eBay and not another site - mainly because it is really much safer and if you use a powerseller you have a very good chance of getting a great auction deal plus the confidence they are not going to disappear without sending you your player.

Also, eBay has some wonderful collector pieces that you might be interested in :)

If you search for vinyl record player hundreds of results are returned - and the auctions are starting at a low price. ....

I think you might find more items and more 'classics' to buy through eBay

Hope you find what you are looking for :)

I'd recommend looking for it on Craigslist. For example:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/atq/1658940431.html is in the LA area and offering both several boxes of vinyl records and a player (the player is $30).

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/ele/1658599888.html also in the LA area - $100.

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/ele/1658548416.html another LA area - $90

You get the idea...
