Well, I am sure there are crazier places out there still, but one of the most unusual places I have ever visited was a swimming pool in Nuremberg Germany that included a nude section for those who desired to swim, enjoy the sauna or even have a drink at the bar in the nude. That in itself would not be so unusual, however, on Fridays after 7 pm the entire swimming pool was REQUIRED to go nude (or leave). One Friday evening, after having spent over one hour to find the place, my husband, I, and two of our friends went to go swimming at this pool. Since we had spent so much time on the road, it was already 5:30 pm and as we paid for our admission, the cashier quickly informed us that one and a half hours later, we would have to go nude or leave the pool. After much debating, we decided not to go swimming that evening after all and we went to the inner city to go shopping instead. The next day we went there a bit earlier to enjoy the wave pool and water slides with our son. However, my husband (who would have gone nude in the first place – it was me and our friends who had said no) was still curious and wanted to find out what was going on in the nude section, and so, we paid extra admission and with towels wrapped around us (we were the only ones dressed like this) we quickly explored the area before heading to the sauna. What we saw was different in so many ways: Naked people of all ages, shapes, and sizes were hanging out together swimming, drinking at the bar (chatting away as though they were wearing clothes), and watching their children (also naked) splash around in a nearby shallow pool. At first, the intermingling of naked adults with children did not seem right to me, but Germany is a more open country and nobody thought anything of it (but the Americans who visited). The sight, I must admit, was something else and I still was not comfortable to expose my own body. Clinging to my towel, I walked through the entire section with my husband to my left and just as quickly as we had went in there, we left again.
