According to http://countrystudies.us/haiti/19.htm Haiti "occupies the western third of the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (La Isla Española); the Dominican Republic takes up the eastern two-thirds." The island of Hispaniola is to the east and slightly to the south of the eastern tip of Cuba. Haiti also controls several other, smaller islands nearby such as Ile de la Gonâve. If you look in a map of the Caribbean Sea you will find Haiti on Hispaniola.
