Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens are both beautiful. You can't do both in one day, but they are close enough together that you could do them both in a long weekend. Gorgeous hiking in both parks. Mt. St. Helens is particularly interesting if you're curious at all about geology. There is a lava tube you can hike through (no need to be an experienced caver but you do need a headlamp and back up flashlight), and the mud flow path is still easily visible. In the Mt. Rainier park, there is a short, easy hike you can take that goes out to a small island with trees over 1,000 years old. Very beautiful and fascinating (on a map, it will be called the Grove of the Patriarchs).

In the summer, I think the coast is also quite beautiful. Not only is it nice to just hang out on the beach, but there is lovely hiking in the Hoh Rain Forest. The Olympic Peninsula has some of the last old growth rain forest in North America. There are also some great bed and breakfasts in the area.

People keep on trying to convince me to give Hurricane Ridge another try too. Also out on the Olympic Peninsula, everyone keeps on telling me it is a great place to see wildlife, and also has incredible views. Both times I have gone, it's been too foggy to see a thing, but I've heard on a clear day, it's nice. So, that one is a gamble, in my opinion...

it all depends on what type of things interest you. I personally love Seattles Pike Place Market...it's got all kinds of little knick knacks and some cultural based shops that are amazing to go through. everytime we go we are easily in there for a couple of hours. Plus it's fun to watch the guys do the fish tossings. Plus it overlooks Elliot Bay...

There are many attractive places to visit in Washington State. Here are some great choices:

• A historic park called Cape Disappointment State Park offers the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Canby, and the oldest lighthouse in Washington State.

• Enjoy the region's best surfing, kayaking and more in Pacific Beach State Park.

• Be sure to visit Olympic National Park.

• Semiahmoo is famous for its naturally-occurring and rugged spit, and also offers fishing and canning museum.
