Where is the best place to go to for skiing in S. Cal?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It depends on your level of experience and if your willing to pay the fees.

Mammoth is a high class resort. so prices will be above most of the rest. but you can expect it from the best. its far out, about 6 hrs from san diego... but well worth the journey

Big bear is an awesome skiing place, as I personally snowboard there whenever I can. Big Bear has awesome(soft/powder) snow, people tend to be friendly(as long as you aint in theyre way). Mt High happens to be close to the freeway and is inexpensive.

Mt high doesnt always get snow... so its usually only good during mid-late winter. but its a good start to save money and learn to ski or snowboard

Southern California really only has two big areas. Mt. High and Snow Summit. Mt. High has very little "mountain" driving to get there, often requiring chains for the last couple miles. Snow Summit in Big Bear is a lot larger (and also gets you into the Bear Mountain resort), but if you head up during weather has a lot of "mountain" driving. I used to like Mt. High best because it was a lot cheaper than Snow Summit, and so much easier to get to for a day trip. They're only a buck or two cheaper now, so I'd recommend Snow Summit as their area is a lot larger and usually has better snow.
