Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Becoming a correction officer is possible through a law enforcement academy.

The best way to go about this is to find an agency, or correctional facility you want to work for. Apply for a correctional officer position at the agency. If you are hired, the agency will send you to the corrections academy nearest you. They will pay for the academy in addition to possibly paying you a salary while you are in training. This is by far the desired route. It won't cost you anything.

If you are not already hired by an agency, you can still apply to the corrections academy. It is going to cost you however. You must contact the nearest academy and request information about applying and the total cost of training. The easiest way to contact the academy is by first contacting the local correctional facility or sheriff's office. They will be able to give you the right contact information.

The academy will differ in length depending on where you are attending. Typically the training is about 5-6 weeks.
