Hi :)
Jazz originated in America, at the beginning of the 20th century, though that is debatable. When Africans were bought to work as slaves in America during the 18th and 19th centuries, they bought their culture, and their sounds, with them.
Dance and song are an integral part of the African culture. Jazz emerged as a combination of African folk music and rhythms and American pop music. Jazz was found mainly in the African American communities in the Southern United States at that time.
