Where can you buy Acai?

There is lots of information and misinformation on the net about the Acai berry and its use in weight loss. I'm not necessarily looking for medical advice, but a reliable and legitimate source to find the stuff. I've noted that since it hasn't been approved by the FDA that it has to be imported, but is it available in any legitimate health food or supplement chains from reputable vendors (i.e., can you get it from GNC and is it made by a recognizable brand name)? If it is only available online, where can you find it (and please, no spamming with free trial offers, affiliate links, etc.)? Legitimate sources only, please.
Tip for best answer: M$3.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

As it so happens, you can buy acai products at GNC. You can see some of their offerings here:
http://www.gnc.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3302512

I'm not sure about the weight loss claims about acai (I've seen ads on the internet, but I always assumed it was all hype and no benefit). From what I've seen, there are a fair number of scams associated with acai weight loss products, and there haven't been any real tests of the weight loss claim. The fruit itself is pretty nutritious and supposedly energizing, so as an actual food product it probably is pretty good for you. The brand I see the most frequently is Sambazon. You can find their juices in Publix, among other places. They also have frozen berry pulp (I used to see it when I lived in Atlanta, you might try looking at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's if you have one in your area). The Sambazon website has a search feature that will tell you what stores in your area sell their products:
http://www.sambazon.com/

If you live in (or near) a large city, you may be able to find more specific information about places that sell acai (or things like acai smoothies) in your area by searching the chowhound boards:
http://chowhound.chow.com/boards

That's always my first stop when I'm hunting unusual fruit.

Marcand, there is dietary supplement out there that really suits your needs, it's available online and they have a free trial too. I'd tried it already and I was amazed on the result. Cenalex that I told you about is advertised on MSN, USAToday and CNN that's why I'd rather choose this dietary supplement.

I have found Acai available at Vitamin World. They have it in liquid softgel capsules (1000 mg per serving) and other forms including a juice. VItamin World stores are usually located in malls and outlet centers. You can also check them out online: www.vitaminworld.com. Or to find a retail location near you call 1-800-381-9000.

As a Passport Member of Vitamin World, you can save 20% to 50% off purchases.
