Where can we do some real good climbing around Phoenix, Arizona?
We are good climbers and are looking for a great climbing adventure near Phoenix, Arizona. Where can we get more info? Are there any local climbing clubs that organize tours?

These are the major climbing areas in Arizona:
1. Jack's Canyon is a little remote has many limestone sport climbs. It is 3 hours NE of Phoenix and you have to hike for 10 minutes from the parking lot. This is a well-protected for sport climbing and has about 6200 ft elevation.

2. Oak Creek Overlook is good for top-roping. This is 20 minutes south of Flagstaff on US highway 89A and 5 minute hike from parking. The altitude is 6000 ft and the SE facing wall gets sun the whole year round.

3. Paradise Forks is 45 minutes West of Flagstaff and you have to hike for about 5 minutes from parking. The altitude is about 7000 feet and tends to get cold in winter but has sun and shade all year round.

4. Camebalck mountain is an accessible urban climbing area in Phoenix, Arizona. This is located near Tatum and McDonald in Phoenix. It has an altitude of 1500 ft.

5. McDowel Mountains and Little Granite Mountain will soon become part of Scottsdale's McDowell Sonoran Preserve. It is 10-30 minute hike from parking and has an altitude of 2000 ft.

The Arizona Mountaineering Clubwas founded in 1964. The purpose of this club is to promote and teach safe rock climbing. Today it has over 300 members who are involved in all areas of climbing, mountaineering and other various outdoor sports.
