Hi and thank you for your question. It really doesn't cost anything to go whale watching on the West Coast or in Oregon. All you need is a list of places where whales can be spotted in Oregon then all you would need is a pair of binoculars or a camera.
Some places to see whales in Oregon are Ecola State Park where they have volunteers there to help you spot them, Boiler Bay State scenic viewpoint, Cook’s Chasm Turnout, Sea Lion Caves Turnout – large Highway 101 turnout south of tunnel and Shore Acres State Park.
You can find a complete list of places to view whales at: http://visittheoregoncoast.com/whale-watching/. If you choose to go on a whale watching tour it may cost you up to thirty dollars for a two hour whale watching trip for Adults and fifteen dollars for children at : http://www.tradewindscharters.com/rates.html . For a list of California whale watching tours you can go to: http://www.newportwhales.com/. Have fun!
