Where can I take an EMT class in Los Angeles/Santa Monica?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I have worked as an EMT in a few states so I have been through this before.

I found that the best way to get started was to not do it alone. I drove to my local fire department and asked them about EMT courses that they offered. In many places they will pay for the course if you can commit to a certain number of hours.

In my case, I used the help of my local fire department to contact the Illinois department of health to get reciprocity for an EMT license I got overseas. I ended up working for a private company in Chicago.

When I moved to Maryland for school the first thing I did was head over to the fire department and again they were more than willing to help me out. I ended up riding along in Prince George's County.

Then I moved to New York and you guessed it, I went to my local fire department yet again. Here they were willing to pay for the full costs of my EMT class because my old one had expired. Unfortunately they required too many hours of commitment (being newly married and a full time law student) and so I still haven't gotten a NY license.

I don't mean to ramble on or anything, just to show you the free resource that nearly everyone has within a few miles of home.

Good luck!

UCLA offers training programs designed to help people become Emergency Medical Technicians.

They offer 3 week courses that are a little over $900. Check out the link below for information on when classes start and how you can enroll.
