Where can I learn more about business plans and starting a business?

My husband and I have been thinking about starting a new business for a while now. Some of our ideas are fresh and exciting. We have alot to learn about the business side of things though! Where can I go to learn more about starting a business? I would hope to also find information there in regards to create a business plan.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I did some research with Google to see what help there is available to people like yourselves with some good ideas, but no real experience of making a business plan, starting up and running a business.

I have found some very good information and I have listed the sites below so that you can check them out. At the stage your are at now, you don't want to spend money on information you can get for free. I have placed links to sites which you may find interesting below. One of these is on inc.com, which this site is part of. Some sites will give you free software, templates and there is plenty of advice about writing a business plan.

There are many more sites than the ones I have listed, but I would be surprised if you don't find what you need here.

There are many things to consider when starting a business. And sometimes a starting point isn't exactly clear. That's why the business plan is such a beautiful thing. By creating one you are able to put the nuts and bolts of your business idea down in print. This can be extremely rewarding as well as a huge step in the direction of finally starting that business you've been talking about for years.

The Small Business Administration is your friend in the process of starting as well as running your business. On their official website you can find out what your legal responsibilities are as a small business owner and access loads of resources such as sample business plans. Additionally, Business.gov offers tutorials and discussions regarding any and all business related topics.
