Where can I learn how to use spices in cooking?
I really fancy buying a spice rack and use all the herbs and spices like a master chef. Is there a website that teaches how to use spices and?

Hello mmng23,
If you have some experience using spices while cooking go ahead and buy that spice rack and start experimenting with new spices. However, it is best to start with a few essential spices if you have never used many of them. Some of the most important ones are turmeric, Cardamom, cloves, Saffron, Star Anise, peppercorns, fennel seed, mustard seeds, white pepper, ginger powder and cinnamon. Once you have these you can make a basic spice powder consisting of ground cloves and cinnamon or you can make a Chinese five spice powder consisting of fennel seed, cinnamon, ginger powder, white pepper and peppercorns.
Once you have your basic spices or spice powder knowing when to use them is all important, for instance you can use your spice powder to marinate meat or you can add it to food while you are seasoning a dish with oil. When adding spices to oil, ensure that the whole spice or the spice powder does not burn.
